It's been a really great Summer here at Bookbarn, filled with happy faces, yummy food and, naturally, lots of books!
Those of you who keep watchful eyes on our blog will remember this post, that detailed all that we had planned for these long Summer weeks. It's crazy to think that we've come to the end of that now, but we have certainly enjoyed every minute!
We've had storytelling sessions, during which our wonderful booksellers read a selection of picture books in our cosy Children's area.
We had a bookfolding workshop, hosted by talented book-folder Kate Egan, who taught the group some special techniques and helped them to create some brilliant book art.
We had scavenger hunts, which were very popular with young readers, and we enjoyed seeing the excitement on their faces when they received their prize - a free book!
We had some special displays in our shop, filled with lots of picture books and if you visit us this week, you'll get to see our back to school display.
And last but definitely not least, we had our second Kilo Sale.
During the first sale in May, we sold 486.3 Kg of books, but this time we broke that record and sold a whopping 748.5 Kg.
We're so pleased that so many people came along and enjoyed themselves, and we're already getting requests for another one!
If you missed any of our events this Summer, there's no need to worry, we're already planning things for the October half term! Keep your eyes peeled for event information.
Though we've had a lovely Summer, we're pleased to be heading into the book lover's favourite time of year, Autumn and Winter. It'll be lovely to have an excuse to stay inside all day and read, and Bookbarn is the best place to spend cold and rainy days.
