As a bookish bunch, we aren't particularly extroverted and sociable in general, so we're hoping our new guidelines and strict social distancing measures won't impact your browsing too much. After all, is there anything better than a peaceful, solitary bookshop session?
We will be reopening our bookshop as of the 17th of June, with limited opening hours and the continued closure of our cafe and public toilets. The rug shop will also be reopening from this date, with their own measures in place. Follow their social media for more info.
Our opening hours will be as follows:
Wednesday: 10am - 4pm
Thursday: 10am - 4pm
Friday: 10am - 4pm
Saturday: 10am - 4pm
Sunday: 11am - 4pm
When you arrive at our shop, there will be signage outside explaining the maximum occupancy we have set in place, and there will be a leaflet to hand which we ask all customers to read through before making their way indoors. It is really important that you are committed to these actions, and that you respect the people around you as you browse our shelves. We will close once again if it is necessary to do so to protect our team and our customers.
You may also, upon visiting, notice that we've made a few changes to our shop. The lockdown had one particular benefit that we're very pleased about - we were able to complete the renovation of our shop, and improve the quality of books available on our shelves. Because of this, we've made some changes to our pricing system. Our Children's books are now priced at £1 each, and all general shop books £2 each. We have also lowered the price of our new books to just £2 each, and we have a few brilliant offers available to make sure you find some bargains - such as 6 for £10 on all shop books! Lastly, our vintage books remain at £4 and we've got some brilliant ways for you to buy them in bulk - 6 for £20 anyone?!
There will be a transition period until the first of July during which our staff may be flexible on pricing, at their discretion, as we continue to weed out the lower quality stock from our shelves. This is a move in the right direction for our bookshop and we are grateful for your continued support.
Lastly, we'd like to point out that while we are extremely excited to have you all visit us once again, you must only do so if you feel comfortable. If you are shielding or are high risk, it is not advisable that you come in just yet. We promise it'll be worth the wait.

Each new year begins for many of us book lovers with the same promise - I will read more books this year. Then real life, dull, irritating, real life gets in the way, and we put the books aside for housework and homework, and end up not quite keeping the promise.Nonetheless,
