We'd like to extend a humongous thank you very much to all of you who joined us for our Book Kilo Sale over the bank holiday weekend. Our team worked very hard to put it together and it was so great to see the smiles on our customers faces on both Sunday and Monday, and hear the exclamations as they found treasures amongst the stacks of books available to peruse.

Recycling and sustainability are the foundations of our business, and by hosting events like our Kilo Sale we are able to embrace that, and feel that we are making a difference in terms of unnecessary waste. This is why we encourage our customers and visitors to donate their old books with us - we have the ability and opportunities to recycle books in unique, special ways - such as finding new homes for them through our bookshop, our internet sales and our kilo sales, or donating them to small libraries, charities and community book exchanges, or sending them out all over the world through our Books by the Yard service.

Our book receiving service is not only rewarding for us, but for our customers too - who can have their loyalty card stamped with each donation and get a free book and a coffee from our café. It's important to us to encourage book donating instead of book throwing away.

However, this post is less about that and more about all of the fun that we had this weekend. We've put together some photos of our third Kilo Sale to share with those of you who weren't able to attend - in the hopes that we can entice you to visit next time.

We often receive DVDs, CDs, audio tapes and Vinys with donations, so these went into our Kilo Sale at just £1 each - a bargain. Again, it seems awful to throw these away when we can share them with our lovely customers - some of the Vinyls we had been given were incredibly unique, the most popular at the sale seemed to be the Disney soundtracks from the original animated movies such as Dumbo and Pinocchio, complete with storybook!

The sale was bigger and better than ever this time - with hundreds of crates of books to browse through - and pallets full of brand new books. Our team worked hard in the lead up to set out a vast range of different titles and subjects, including some beautiful vintage books that made for some very happy customers. One couple managed to find some treats for a very special occasion; "we bought some beautiful old hard back classics. We're going to tie them up in bundles and have them as table decorations for our book themed wedding".

We also had lots more people join us for this sale, and some animals too! According to her owners, little Daisy loved riding round on the trolley. They also let us know that they "had a fantastic time, look forward to the next one!".

We will be looking at hosting another Book Kilo Sale before the end of the Summer, so please do keep your eyes peeled on our social medias and sign up to our mailing list to receive updates. What a great weekend!
