It's been a while since we shared something with you here, and we've got plenty to tell you about, so buckle up!
Our biggest piece of news is that our shop recently underwent a pretty adventurous transformation, with the help of the many generous people who donated to our crowdfunding efforts [of which today is the last day!], and now that we've finally recovered, we're pleased to give you some more information on the changes.
[A shot of our shop at the beginning of our week of renovations]
Most importantly, we have to note that we still have our £1 books area. There was some worry from our regulars that the renovation was taking place in order to remove this area, and that is absolutely not the case. The renovation was a way for us to breathe new life into the £1 books space, and make sure that all of the books that we have on the shelf are not only a bargain price, but also that they are easy to browse, good quality books.
We embrace change here at Bookbarn, we love introducing new areas to our shop to help make each and every visit a fun and interesting one for all of our customers. This project has allowed us to create more little reading spots, have more books on display and generally just improve the atmosphere in our shop.

It has also allowed us to open up our bookshop and cafe, blurring the two together a little more to reflect the connection between the two sides of our business.
Our shop is now officially open once again, all shelves and tables full and all sections finally back out. After a long week of painting shelves, moving shelves, ripping up carpet, moving shelves again, packing up and unpacking books, sealing the floors, and plenty of heavy lifting, we are pleased to have it all in one piece, finally. We hope you'll join us soon and have a browse of our new shelves, and take a look at the new range of books we're now able to display.
As well as the changes to our shop, we have also been exploring other changes to our business, including the reintroduction of our vendor service, which you can read more about in the flyer below, and the launch of not one but two new Bookbarn websites. Our webstore and our Books by the Yard website.
Our brilliant cafe have had a wonderful start to the year, with new and old customers turning up to enjoy a tasty lunch or a coffee to fuel them for book browsing and other endeavours.
Next week we will be celebrating World Book Day, and welcoming students from a local primary school to take a tour of our behind-the-scenes areas and enjoy a free book each. Keep an eye on our social media to see what we get up to!
Lastly, we'd like to remind you that we have our Spring Fayre coming up on the 4th of April, from 12pm - 7pm. We still have a few spaces left for stalls - get in touch if you are interested. For more information on the event itself, head to our Facebook page to take a look.
