Take a look at our weekly blog for Stories, Bookbarn News, Offers and more.
Founded in 2000, we are one of the largest booksellers in the UK - shipping new, secondhand and rare books from our warehouse in rural Somerset to customers all over the world every day.
You might even have bought books from us before on sites such as Amazon, Abebooks, eBay, Barnes & Noble, Waterstones Marketplace and Biblio. We also sell books in bulk to interior design studios, film/TV production companies, museums and more.
With a large variety of books old and new making up our stock, you can visit us to browse our vast bookshelves in person. We’re one of the only book warehouses in the country to have a bookshop customers can visit year round to browse- and enjoy the perks of our wonderful on-site cafe (complete with woodburner!).
Our large team is dedicated to providing excellent order handling and customer service. We are passionate about all things books - and hope you enjoy your experience with us, whether in real life or online!
We are a small, independent business with big ideas. In January 2013 we started to transform and rebuild Bookbarn - giving the old business a transformation with global reach.
We have a dedicated, enthusiastic and close-knit team from all walks life who are passionate about books and always happy to help customers.
Bookbarn has been shipping fantastic books at great prices to book lovers all over the world since the year 2000.
You! We sell books on your behalf. You are book collectors, dealers, schools, libraries, charities, museums, shops, friends, relatives, grandmas, grandpas, professors, doctors, teachers, students and possibly even your next door neighbour.
We pay you a generous percentage of the net value your books ahieve when sold through our vendor service. This can be especially useful for schools, libraries, charities and of course students! Find out more about how you become a vendor yourself. If your books are not suitable for selling through a vendor service we also accept donations.
We find loving homes for as many second hand books as possible. We hate to see books go to waste and never to a landfill! Our £1 shop is a fantastic way to save books that are no longer suitable to be kept in our busy warehouse for sale online but are easy bargains for happy shoppers. Only a tiny percent of the books are disposed of, even then they are always recycled. They may end up as packing material or even toilet paper ..... so there may be more literary material in your loo than in your reading books. All unused packaging material and cardboard is recycled and we also make sure that our team recycle their drinks bottles, cans, lunch packaging and paper too.
We are not just a barnful of books; though our stacks are pretty awe inspiring! We have a pretty(ish) face too! You can visit our bricks and mortar shop in the heart of Somerset seven days a week. We are located just 30 mins from the cities of Bristol, Bath and Wells.
In late August 2017, we featured on BBC2's Dragon's Den! And although we didn't walk away with an investment, we left with our heads held high and much praise from the Dragons!
CEO Fenna Leake said: 'It was very nerve-racking going into the Den - but exciting, too. The Dragons were positive and understanding about the business.' See what happened here
